The Organ

A fine instrument in a fine building.

The organ of St George's leads the singing of the people, supports the choirs, and is heard in regular recitals across the year.

The organ has been at the heart of worship at St George’s since the appointment of Edward Bunting as the church’s first organist in 1817 — a remarkable continuity of musical life in the centre of Belfast.

The instrument supports a full range of liturgical and recital repertoire. Mark McGrath serves as Organist and Daniel Clements as Assistant Organist; both also direct music for various ensembles in the parish’s wider musical life.
